This Is Our Story

We are coaches, marketers, therapists, educators, reverends, artists, mothers, fathers, grandparents, sisters, friends, visionaries, and so much more.

We have come together because we care. We care about the fate of humanity and are concerned with the very real and prevalent inability of many to see our shared humanity. We believe that all people have a right to live in a safe environment, free from the threat of violence and persecution.

So we have come together to create opportunities for powerful change. We open our circle to you and are grateful to be walking this path with so many others, walking toward unity, respect, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and each other.

Laurie Benson
Founder

Laurie's future was forever changed when she visited the border in February of 2020. While driving through Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, she met a group of 15 people who had just travelled from Ecuador to seek asylum at our border only to find out that our borders were closed, and there was no path forward for them. The journey these 7 adults and 8 children had taken, and the treatment they received, shifted the trajectory of Laurie's life and was the beginning of Madres e Hijos.

Laurie brings decades of experience in marketing, PR, and business management. Her driving force in life is creating opportunities for us to witness and honor our shared humanity.
